Feds move to block AT&T, T-Mobile merger
AT&T's takeover of T-Mobile has hit a major roadblock as the U.S. government plans to block the merger of the two mobile giants. The Department of Justice today filed suit in U.S. District Court in Washington, saying the deal violates U.S. antitrust law.
"We are seeking to block this deal in order to maintain a vibrant and competitive market place," said James Cole, Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice in a press conference.
Android bolsters HTC and Samsung bottom lines
Android, Google Inc.’s open-source software for mobile phones, is still the fastest growing mobile operating system, expanding in line with device makers running the Google software (which are also experiencing a major boost).
AT&T quietly releases Android-powered Sharp FX Plus

It's without much fanfare that we learned about AT&T's Sharp FX Plus, a rather entry-level Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone that has been available since July 30. Like the Sharp FX before it, the FX Plus is positioned as a messaging phone targeting the younger set. However, it does get an upgrade with Android, and a much rounder body that smooths over some of its predecessor's rough edges.
